Delayed Start? Team Biden Pushes Back Presidential Launch

After initial reports indicated that former Vice President Joe Biden would launch his presidential campaign this Wednesday, subsequent reports indicate the Wednesday launch has been pushed back to at least Thursday.

The Atlantic’s Edward-Isaac Dovere, who initially broke the Wednesday launch date story, tweeted Monday evening:

And the Philadelphia Inquirer reported that rallies that were planned in either Charlottesville, Virginia, Pittsburgh, or Philadelphia have all been “scuttled.”

Either way, it’s clear he’s making Pennsylvania a centerpiece of his campaign, and early reports indicated he may select Philadelphia for his campaign headquarters. Philadelphia big-wigs are expected to throw Biden a massive fundraiser shortly after he enters the race.

One former Biden employee blasted the former vice president and his operation for this week’s false start:

“I’ve never seen anything so half-assed. They’re improvising and doing last-minute planning. The guy has been running for President since 1987 and can’t figure the basics out, like where to stand on his first day? This should make everyone very nervous.”

Meanwhile, Biden’s people told Axios’ Mike Allen that he expects the primary field to go after him, hard. “His antenna is up,” a Biden friend told Axios. “He’s ready for it.”
