Dem Candidate Copies Jon Ossoff’s Website

If you're going to plagiarize another candidate, you might want to plagiarize someone who actually won.

New York Democrat Max Della Pia may want to redesign his website, after a report from The Buffalo News’s Jerry Zremski revealed that the candidate copied, sometimes “word for word,” his website’s content from the text of the site of failed Democratic candidate Jon Ossoff.

Ossoff infamously lost the GA-06 special congressional election in June 2017, after the national media identified it as a potential Democratic pickup. Della Pia is apparently looking to resurrect Ossoff’s failed campaign.

On issues like economics, health care, and wages, the two candidates apparently have very similar positions:

For example, Della Pia’s website says he “knows, first-hand, how hard it is to start a small business, grow a company, meet a payroll, and balance budgets.” And the Ossoff website says Ossoff “knows what it means to grow a company, meet a payroll, and balance budgets.”

Similarly, and in every sense of that word, Della Pia’s website says: “Max will defend equal pay for equal work and fight any effort to allow wage discrimination against women or minorities.” And the Ossoff website says: “Jon will defend equal pay for equal work and fight any effort to allow wage discrimination against women or minorities.”

Zremski writes that “nearly 20 passages” on the two websites have similar or identical wording.

In response to the similarities, the Della Pia campaign blamed a “volunteer” for writing the passages. They denied that the candidate had anything to do with the website’s plagiarism.
