Dem Congressional Candidate Won’t Commit to Supporting Nancy Pelosi

Democratic congressional candidate MJ Hegar, who is running in Texas’ 31st Congressional District, would not commit to supporting House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) to be the leader of the House Democratic caucus if elected, during an interview on Monday.

CNN”s John Berman asked Hegar whether she will commit to supporting Pelosi to be either minority leader or speaker if Hegar is elected to Congress in 2018.

“You know, I don’t know if that’s a question that anybody in my district is really asking,” Hegar said. “I think this is a D.C. question.”

Berman pointed out that eventually it’s a question that Hegar will have to face if she is elected to Congress.

“Sure. Sure. Eventually, and we’ll know who she’s running against and then I can make an informed decision on who’s going to represent my district better,” Hegar said. “I’m going to always vote for the values of my district and what I think is best for them.
