Democratic Congressional candidate Sharice Davids said that it was time for the leadership of the House Democrats to become more diverse during an interview on Thursday.

CNN’s Poppy Harlow asked Davids why she wasn’t among the growing list of Democratic Congressional candidates saying, if elected, they will not support House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and whether it had anything to do with the amount of money Pelosi is able to raise.

“The framing of the question makes me think about how often I hear from people that they are concerned about money in politics in general,” Davids said.

Davids then went on to discuss the influence that money has on American politics telling Harlow, “It shouldn’t be about how much money you can raise.”

Harlow followed up by asking Davids whether she believes that Pelosi represents the future of the Democratic Party and if she thinks the House Democratic leadership is too old and too white.

“I definitely think, as somebody who is younger and part of this more diverse group of people, I would love to see more diverse leadership at the table, for sure,” Davids said. “I think that with everything, the future is going to include change. It’s going to include more diversity.”

Harlow pressed Davids on whether she thought the House Democrats’ leadership was too old and too white.

“I mean, all of Congress on both sides is probably — definitely not diverse enough,” Davids said.
