House Democratic Caucus Chairman Rep. Joe Crowley (D-NY) dodged on whether he thought House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is a liability for Democratic candidates running in 2018 during an interview on Sunday.

Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace asked Crowley whether he thought Pelosi was a liability in the upcoming midterm elections, citing a USA Today article which found one-third of Republican ads have featured Pelosi.

The USA Today reported:

“The House Democratic leader has been featured in roughly one-third (34%) of all GOP broadcast ads aired in House races this year, according to data provided to the USA TODAY NETWORK by Kantar Media’s Campaign Media Analysis Group (CMAG), which tracks political advertising.”

“That compares with 9% in all of 2016 and 13% in 2014.”

“I think it’s more reflective of the fact the, Republicans are bankrupt on ideas. They don’t have anything else to offer except go after Nancy Pelosi,” Crowley said. “If they think that’s a winning, strategy they are completely mistaken and wrong.”

Wallace interjected that Democrat Conor Lamb recently used this strategy, and it resulted in Lamb winning Pennsylvania’s 18th congressional district, special election.

“Conor Lamb won because he ran a local election, ” Crowley said.
