Rep. Danny Davis (D-IL), speaking with The Daily Caller, defended his relationship with anti-Semite Nation of Islam Leader Louis Farrakhan, though he said he does not share Farrakhan’s world view.

The Nation of Islam leader has trafficked in particularly toxic rhetoric, as the Daily Caller points out, engaging in anti-white and anti-Semitic rhetoric. “Farrakhan has repeatedly denounced Jews as ‘satanic,’ praised Hitler as a ‘very great man’ and has said that white people ‘deserve to die,'” the Caller’s Pete Hasson wrote.

The representative then used Nazi-era terminology to give Farrakhan room on his anti-Semitic views (emphasis added):

“That’s just one segment of what goes on in our world,” he added. “The world is so much bigger than Farrakhan and the Jewish question and his position on that and so forth. For those heavy into it, that’s their thing, but it ain’t my thing.”

When Adolf Hitler and the Nazis were crafting plans to rid Europe of the Jewish population, they couched it in the language of answering “the Jewish question.” Hitler used the term as early as 1919, and his regime ultimately came up with the “Final Solution” that systematically murdered millions of Jews.
