During a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Tuesday, Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) tried to force Deputy Assistant Attorney General Adam Hickey to say that evidence existed that President Trump’s campaign worked with Russian intelligence to swing the 2016 presidential election.

“There have been statements about there being no evidence of any collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russian attempt to interfere in our elections of 2016,” he said. “On the question of whether there is evidence, would you agree with me that there is some evidence?”

“It’s not appropriate for me to comment,” Hickey responded, referring to the probe as an “ongoing investigation.”

Blumenthal listed all the “facts” he believes point toward collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign. The senator asked Hickey if he was aware of all the instances he presented.

“If those facts were true, wouldn’t it be evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russian interference?” he asked.

“I don’t think it’s appropriate for me to comment in any respect on a pending matter,” Hickey responded, ending Blumenthal’s question period.
