Democratic candidate for governor of Colorado, Rep. Jared Polis (D-CO), was called out during a debate on Monday for using his enormous personal wealth to self-fund his campaign but was unable to say how his opponents would be beholden to big money donors if elected.

The moderator asked Polis to outline how the other candidates are beholden to big money donors and asked Polis to give specific names.

Polis, who is worth close to $400 million, has capped donations to his campaign to just $100, which the moderator pointed out was only possible because of Polis’ enormous personal wealth.

“I think people are frustrated that their politicians seem to be working for special interests and big corporations rather than them,” Polis said. “I’m really running for governor to be able to take on the special interests.”

The moderator then asked what special interests his opponents would be serving if elected.
