Democrats Divided: DNC Chair Perez Attacks DCCC for Hitting Fellow Democrats

Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chair Tom Perez said that he faults the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) for dropping opposition research against a Democratic candidate running for Congress in Texas, telling CSPAN, “I wouldn’t have done it,” during an interview on “Newsmaker,” which will air on Sunday.

USA Today’s Susan Page, who conducted the interview with Perez, tweeted:

Perez is referring to the DCCC’s decision to release an opposition research memo on its website attacking Democratic candidate Laura Moser, who is running in Texas’ Seventh Congressional District.

The DCCC’s decision has resulted in a considerable amount of backlash from prominent Democrats. The hosts of the popular podcast “Pod Save America,” even questioned why their listeners would give to the DCCC.

This is just the most recent example of how divided the Democratic Party is ahead of the pivotal 2018 midterm elections.

Earlier in the week, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) announced that she would support Rep. Dan Lipinski (D-IL) in his reelection campaign, a race that the DCCC has elected to stay out of despite the fact that Lipinski is the fight of his political life.
