Democrats now hold just a four-point lead in the 69 “battleground” House districts in the 2018 November midterms, according to polling released by the Washington Post.

Of the 69 districts in question, 63 are currently held by Republicans. But the real interesting numbers can be found in comparing Donald Trump-won districts in 2016 with Hillary Clinton-won districts.

President Trump won 48 of the 69 districts in the 2016 election. In those 48, the poll found that likely voters are nearly evenly split, with 48 percent saying they support the Democratic candidate and 47 percent preferring the GOP candidate.

In the 21 districts that Hillary Clinton won in 2016, Democrats have a 10 point advantage, 53-43.

Complicating matters for pollsters are the ever-changing national dynamics of the midterms. The Senate just confirmed Brett Kavanaugh as the Supreme Court’s newest justice, bolstering Republicans and enraging Democrats.

This poll was taken from September 19 to October 5, but at least one GOP pollster has said Republican numbers are improving in recent days, due, at least in part, to Kavanaugh’s confirmation:

Whether Republicans are able to sustain the momentum set in motion by the Supreme Court confirmation for the next 29 days will likely be determined by what happens in the next month.
