Democrats Launch $21-Million Digital Onslaught to Win the Senate

Two major Democrat super PACs announced they are launching a $21-million digital ad campaign targeting states with crucial Senate races on the ballot this November.

Priorities USA Action and Senate Majority PAC announced an $18 million ad campaign targeting Arizona, Florida, Indiana, Missouri, and North Dakota. Separately, Senate Majority PAC is plunging another $3 million into ads in Montana, Nevada, Tennessee, and West Virginia.

The ads will run on social media platforms like Facebook as well as on audio streaming services like YouTube, Hulu and Spotify. The majority of the spots are focusing on taking aim at Republicans over health care, as more Democratic campaigns and groups make it a central issue this year.

Democrats are increasingly hopeful that they might be able to flip control of the Senate, despite a particularly difficult map. Eight of the nine states targeted by these groups went for Donald Trump over Hillary Clinton in 2016.

Still, a fresh batch of polls from Fox News shows the races in Arizona, Indiana, Missouri, North Dakota, and Tennessee all within their respective polls’ margins of error.

The news of these Democrat groups’ investment follows a report from earlier this week that Republican super PAC, the Senate Leadership Fund (SLF), invested another $6.4 million in ads in Missouri, Indiana, Nevada, West Virginia, and North Dakota. SLF has pledged to spend $60 million on the 2018 midterms.
