Denver area congressional candidate Morgan Carroll (D-CO) made news over the weekend when she turned down a debate invitation from The Denver Post, the largest newspaper in the state.

Carroll is looking to unseat Rep. Mike Coffman (R-CO) in Colorado’s 9th Congressional District.

Through a spokesperson, Carroll argued: “With the limited time that we have between now and Election Day, we’re going to do the debates that give us the farthest reach.”

But an exclusive new audio clip from NTK Network reveals Carroll’s previously held bias against The Denver Post and “mainstream media” in general. Carroll goes on to say she expects the Post’s endorsement to go to her opponent because her politics are even further to the left than Andrew Romanoff’s, who ran against and lost to Coffman in 2014:

CARROLL: “But we can’t count on the mainstream media to do real reporting.”

VOTER: “In fact you can count on them to actively suppress…”

CARROLL: “And The Denver Post Board and Vincent Carroll, and – what’s that guy’s name – Chuck Plunkett, love Coffman. Do you remember when they endorsed him over Romanoff? I think our politics are even further apart. I mean, I can already tell you the endorsement is going to go for Coffman again.”
