DNC Posts Its Worst October Fundraising Number in 15 Years

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) just posted its worst October fundraising number in 15 years, bringing in only $3.9 million for the month.

To find an October fundraising number this low, you would have to go all the way back to 2002. By contrast, the Republican National Committee (RNC) has raised $9.2 million in October and had raised $113 million so far in 2017.

Through October of 2017, the DNC has raised just $50.2 million, well short of DNC Chair Tom Perez’s lofty goal of doubling the organization’s budget from $50 million to $100 million in 2017.

Perez told MSNBC’s Hallie Jackson during an interview in June that he just needs more time at the DNC to get things turned around. Five months later, things don’t appear to have improved.

The DNC has struggled to raise funds under the leadership of Perez, and in October The Hill reported how Democratic insiders were growing frustrated with Perez’s leadership. This begs the question: how much longer will Democratic insiders allow Perez to remain party chair?
