Does Mueller Know Manafort Colluded With Russia?

A set of leaked questions from Special Counsel Robert Mueller to President Donald Trump found itself in The New York Times, and one indicates Mueller has evidence that members of the Trump campaign coordinated with Russian intelligence operations.

The questions mostly focus on events surrounding the firing of former FBI Director James Comey and Trump’s use of the Justice Department.

But one asks whether then-candidate Trump knew of efforts among his campaign staff to seek help from Russian intelligence.

“What knowledge did you have of any outreach by your campaign, including by Paul Manafort, to Russia about potential assistance to the campaign?” the special counsel reportedly wants to ask the president.

The New York Times notes that the tone of this question hints that Mueller not only believes Manafort coordinated with Russian operatives, but the special counsel is nearly certain of it:

It is not clear whether Mr. Mueller knows something new, but there is no publicly available information linking Mr. Manafort, the former campaign chairman, to such outreach. So his inclusion here is significant. Mr. Manafort’s longtime colleague, Rick Gates, is cooperating with Mr. Mueller.

Mueller also wants to ask the president about potential contacts between Roger Stone and Wikileaks, but the question is less clear.
However, the seeming certainty behind the Manafort question suggests Mueller knows how this case will end.
