Former Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chair Donna Brazile told a local South Florida ABC affiliate that her phone “rang off the hook” with Democrats wanting to replace Hillary Clinton in the wake of her health scare at a 9/11 memorial service ahead of the 2016 election.

After video of the Democratic candidate collapsing went viral, Brazile’s “phone rang off the hook so badly” that she had to unhook it.

“I was getting calls from people all across the country, not just media people, but Democrats. The former chair of the Democratic National Committee spoke out publicly, ‘The DNC must consider [replacing Hillary Clinton],'” she said.

Brazile cited DNC rules that gave her the power to replace the nominee “in the case of death, resignation, or disability.”

She claimed that she only explored the possibility, lining up possible replacements, but didn’t actually act on replacing Clinton.
