Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL) dodged when asked whether changes to Democratic Party leadership were necessary following the midterm elections on Sunday.

NBC’s Chuck Todd asked Durbin, who has served in Senate leadership since 2005, whether changes were necessary.

“Chuck, that’s tomorrow’s newspaper. Today’s newspaper is about an election on November 6th,” Durbin said.

Durbin then touted the issues the Democratic Party is pushing in the lead up to the midterm elections.

Todd followed up by asking Durbin if he agreed with the Democratic candidate for Senate in Arizona, Kyrsten Sinema, that Americans don’t like the two-party system and whether that is a problem.

“Well, it gets down to this, Chuck: there are more and more independent voters, and I think Kyrsten is correct,” Durbin said. “But the bottom line is we are doing well with those independent voters.”
