Deputy DNC Chair Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) denied that he was ever a follower of Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan in an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper on Tuesday.

Discussing President Trump’s travel ban, which the Supreme Court upheld in a 5-4 decision on Tuesday, Tapper asked Ellison about his ties to the anti-Semitic Farrakhan.

The Democrat took offense at the question. “If you’re going to try to put me on the spot and have to explain myself – I didn’t pass a Muslim ban,” he complained.

Tapper pointed out that Ellison was a “follower” of Farrakhan, which Ellison denied.

“No I wasn’t,” he said. “That’s not true, Jake.”

The Washington Post gave its worst fact-check rating, “Four Pinocchios,” to Ellison’s previous claim that he had “no relationship” with Farrakhan.

Ellison called that fact check “wrong.”
