The League of Conservation Voters (LCV), one of the top-spending environmental groups in the country, praised Rep. Jared Polis (D-CO), the Democratic gubernatorial nominee in Colorado, and other candidates this week for pledging their commitment to “making their state 100 percent clean energy reliant by 2050.”

The Hill reported:

LCV on Wednesday announced that more than 1,400 candidates running for office in November made a pledge to the group’s “Clean Energy for All” commitment,” a goal of making their state 100 percent clean energy reliant by 2050, including Colorado Democrat and gubernatorial candidate Rep. Jared Polis (D-Colo.), and Oregon’s Democratic Gov. Kate Brown.

This kind of plan is not new in Democratic politics. NTK Network noted back in February that a national version of a “100% renewable energy” plan, backed by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), would cost the U.S. $15 trillion over 35 years.

The environmental-group’s support for Polis should not be surprising, though. Another national spender among environmental groups, the Sierra Club, has already committed $600,000 to getting Polis across the finish line in November.
