EXCLUSIVE: Read the Emails Gov. Ralph Northam Received After VA Restaurant Booted Sarah Sanders

White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders tweeted last month that the owner of the Red Hen restaurant in Lexington, Virginia asked her to leave the restaurant because she worked for President Trump.

The news created an uproar, and was followed the next day by Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) telling liberals to harass Trump administration officials in public.

And while House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) condemned Waters’ call to action, Gov. Ralph Northam (D-VA) has been largely silent on the restaurant owner who refused service to Sanders.

That has angered both Virginians and non-Virginians alike, according to emails sent to Northam and obtained by NTK Network through an open records request.

In one email, a woman whose family has lived in Virginia 148 years asked Northam to “publicly condemn” what she described as the “discriminatory action” taken by the owner of the Red Hen in Lexington:

Red Hen Email 2

In another, a man named Michael, who was planning a visit to the Commonwealth of Virginia, said he changed his mind after reading about the “clear prejudice allowed and applauded by state officials.”

And a man named Gregg said he and his wife were considering retiring to Lexington, Virginia. That all changed after this “despicable act of bias,” he wrote:

Red Hen Email 3

These emails make clear the fact that this incident has given Virginia a black eye. Americans are open to disagreement within political discourse, but outright discrimination based on political beliefs appears to be where these individuals draw the line.
