The FBI released a heavily-redacted compilation of files surrounding its relationship with former British spy and Trump dossier author Christopher Steele.

Documents released by the FBI on Friday reveal that the agency fired former British spy Christopher Steele a week prior to the 2016 election.

Steele, the author of the infamous Trump dossier, admitted to the bureau that he disclosed his relationship with the FBI to a media outlet.

“At that time, handling agent advised [Steele] that the nature of the relationship between the FBI and [Steele] would change completely and that it was unlikely that the FBI would continue a relationship with [Steele],” the document reports.

The information adds that Steele’s handler instructed him to no longer collect intelligence for the bureau.
