First 2020 Dem Primary Debate to Be Held on June 26 & 27 in Miami

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) announced the dates for the first Democratic presidential primary debates, which will be hosted by NBC News, on June 26 and 27 in Miami.

The DNC announced earlier this year that they would be splitting the crowded field of Democratic presidential hopefuls in into two debate nights.

“Throughout every step of this process, we’ve focused on empowering the grassroots and ensuring that we hold the most transparent, inclusive, and fair primary in our party’s history,” DNC Chair Tom Perez said in a statement. “I’m thrilled that we’ll get the chance to showcase our terrific candidates to voters in Florida and across the nation.”

In order to be eligible for the June 26 and 27 debates in Miami, Democratic candidates must reach either the 1-percent support threshhold in three separate polls or receive donations from 65,000 people in at least 20 different states.
