Following Backlash, Biden Apologizes for Complimenting Pence

Former Vice President Joe Biden found himself in hot water Thursday after he called current Vice President Mike Pence a “decent guy” during a foreign policy discussion in Omaha on Thursday.

Biden, who has a tendency to occasionally say nice things about Republicans, apologize for the remark after far-left Democrats objected to the remark. In a tweet, Biden responded to criticism from failed New York gubernatorial candidate and actress, Cynthia Nixon:

But Biden’s apology was not enough for Nixon, who responded to Biden’s apology: “Thanks [Joe Biden]. Appreciate the response. But please understand from where we sit, his dehumanizing of our community disqualifies [Mike Pence] for the honorific of ‘decent’, regardless of the context.”

In 2018, Nixon challenged Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) in the governor’s race and was trounced in the primary, 66 to 34 percent. She is best known for her role as Miranda in the HBO series “Sex and the City.”

The episode highlights the inevitable problems that a Biden 2020 campaign would face. After spending a lifetime in the deliberative body of the Senate, the former Delaware senator and vice president is just a little too chummy with Republicans for many liberals’ liking.

Biden admitted earlier this week that his family is encouraging him to run for president, but he says he has not yet made a final decision. Every national poll has shown Biden leading the 2020 Democratic field, but two new polls showed Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) overtaking Biden in New Hampshire, following the Vermont senator’s formal candidacy announcement.
