Former AG Holder Backtracks Controversial Comments

Former Attorney General and possible 2020 hopeful Eric Holder took to Twitter on Thursday to backtrack comments he made at a recent campaign event in Georgia after receiving criticism from Democrats and Republicans alike.

While, speaking at a campaign event in Georgia on Sunday, Holder told the crowd that when Republicans go low, “we kick them.” The comments were first reported by the NTK Network on Wednesday.

Holder made the comment in reference to former First Lady Michelle Obama’s phrase, “when they go low, we go high.”

The former first lady blasted holder for his comments during an interview with NBC on Thursday, saying, fear is “not a proper motivator.”

President Trump also criticized Holder for his comments during an interview with Fox News, saying it was a “disgusting” and “dangerous statement” for the former attorney general to make.

“Ok, stop the fake outrage. I’m obviously not advocating violence,” Holder tweeted on Thursday in response to the criticism. “I’m saying Republicans are undermining our democracy and Democrats need to be tough, proud and stand up for the values we believe in – the end.”
