Former Attorney General Eric Holder, a possible Democratic candidate for president in 2020, tweeted out his endorsement of several Democratic candidates running in Minnesota on Monday.

But, Holder notably left one candidate off his list: Democratic National Committee (DNC) vice chair and Democratic nominee for attorney general, Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN).

“Just a couple of days left for Minnesota to elect: 1)Tim Walz @Tim_Walz, 2) great @mnhouseDFL candidates to the state house, and 3)Mark Haase @Haase4Hennepin to be the next DA for Hennepin County. All great candidates. Get out there and vote Minnesota!” Holder tweeted.

It’s not all that surprising that Holder elected not to endorse Ellison, given the allegations of domestic abuse against Ellison from his ex-girlfriend, and Ellison’s ties to the anti-Semitic Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan.

With 2020 on his mind, Holder probably didn’t want to get tangled up in addressing Ellison’s controversies, after watching how poorly DNC Chair Tom Perez did defending Ellison during an interview on Sunday.
