Gov. Mark Dayton (D-MN) is set to name his replacement for Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) on Wednesday. Franken announced this month that he would resign amid allegations of sexual misconduct.

Many expect Dayton to nominate Minnesota’s lieutenant governor, Tina Smith, although they doubt she would run for future terms. However, there’s just one problem: Franken hasn’t resigned yet, and there’s no indication that he is planning on it anytime soon.

In a speech on the Senate floor on Thursday, Franken told his colleagues that he would resign “in the coming weeks.” He has denied most of the accusations against himself.
