Asked about a New York Times report that Hillary Clinton protected a sexual harasser on her 2008 campaign, Rep. Frederica Wilson (D-FL) expressed confusion about the story, seemingly defending Clinton.

After CNN’s Poppy Harlow gave Wilson the whole story, Wilson didn’t seem to take it all in. “Was [Clinton’s] response appropriate?” Harlow asked

“Well, that’s a lot,” she responded, laughing nervously. “I think so. Are you sure Hillary Clinton was aware of all that?”

Harlow pointed out that Clinton acknowledged that she was aware of the scandal.

“That was not a good decision by her staff,” Wilson commented. Despite this remark, the New York Times reported Clinton’s staff advised the then-candidate to fire Burns Strider, the accused staffer. It was Clinton who defended him.

The CNN host then asked if Clinton should have fired her campaign’s spiritual adviser, Strider.

“On the spot,” Wilson said, contradicting her earlier answer.
