Gallup: Support for GOP Tax Cuts Up 10% in Three Months

GOP tax cuts passed in December 2017 are becoming more popular with Americans, according to a poll released by Gallup on Wednesday.

Americans’ support for the tax changes signed into law by President Donald Trump late last year has edged up to 39% from 33% in January and 29% in December before the bill was passed. But more Americans continue to disapprove than approve of the law.

In addition to the 10-point rise in approval over three months, disapproval of the tax law has dropped eight points, and is under 50-percent disapproval for the first time in Gallup’s polling.

The drop comes as “32% of U.S. adults say they have seen an increase in their take-home pay,” according to Gallup, and despite a sustained verbal assault against the bill from national Democrats.

The Gallup poll builds on results released from The New York Times and SurveyMonkey last month, which showed 51 percent of Americans approving of the GOP tax bill, up from 46 percent in January.
