Gardner Blasts Polis: His Election Would Bring ‘Cradle to Grave Government Care’

Sen. Cory Gardner (R-CO), the top-ranking Republican in the state of Colorado, is campaigning against Rep. Jared Polis (D-CO) – the Democratic nominee for governor – this week, a sign all eyes in the state are on the gubernatorial race.

Gardner was campaigning for GOP nominee Walker Stapleton, according to Complete Colorado.

Gardner did not hold back against Polis, a colleague in Congress, arguing that Polis would represent “cradle to grave government care” if elected to succeed term-limited Gov. John Hickenlooper (D-CO).

In his introductory remarks, Gardner said, “The road to the governor’s mansion drives directly through El Paso County.” “If Jared Polis is elected, you know what’s going to happen. It’s cradle to grave government care. It’s an energy policy that makes you pay more. It’s less opportunity for the American people, for the Colorado people,” he continued.

…Criticizing Polis, whose personal fortune may be as much as 500 million dollars, Gardner said, “Jared Polis has unlimited ability to write himself as much of a check as he wants. But that’s why we’re going to stand strong, because this race isn’t going to be won by somebody who can write themselves that big fat check.”

Gardner is up for reelection in 2020, but he’s spending his political time campaigning for Stapleton and running the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) in the 2018 cycle.
