Gillibrand Blasts Trump on Sexual Assault Allegations, Ignores Allegations Against CAP

"It goes to this fundamental issue of do we value women? So, if there's prevalent sexual assault, the answer is no," Gillibrand said while speaking at an organization accused of prevalent sexual assault.

At the Center for American Progress’ (CAP) ideas forum, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) blasted President Trump for alleged sexual assault allegations while ignoring CAP’s own troubled past with handling sexual assault allegations on Tuesday.

Gillibrand was speaking on a panel that addressed the issue of “Women’s Power” and featured the former President of Planned Parenthood Cecile Richards, and Hillary Clinton’s communication director Jennifer Palmeri.

“It goes to this fundamental issue of do we value women? So if there’s prevalent sexual assault, the answer is no. If you don’t have equal pay for equal work, the answers no,” Gillibrand said.

Gillibrand then said that organizations like the NFL, the United States military, and United States Congress don’t value women.

“What President Trump stands for underminds everything we value,” Gillibrand said. “Literally everything we care about is at risk with this president, and he doesn’t value women, and you see it from the number of women he’s harassed or assaulted.”

BuzzFeed recently reported on how CAP was, “struggling with a number of unsettled sexual harassment claims,” while they were simultaneously attacking Republicans.

Neera Tanden, who runs the organization, even revealed one of the victim’s names without their consent during an all staff meeting to address the BuzzFeed report.

The closest Gillibrand came to addressing the allegations against CAP was when she spoke about former Sen. Al Franken (D-MN), according CNN’s Dan Merica.

It would appear based on Gillibrand’s definition that CAP does not value women. So why would Gillibrand choose to speak there?
