Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) refused to renounce the money that Bill and Hillary Clinton donated to her campaigns in an interview with MSNBC’s Kasie Hunt on Sunday night.

Gillibrand said last week that Bill Clinton should have resigned following sexual misconduct scandals at the end of his presidency.

Hunt pointed out that the New York senator had given away donations from Sen. Al Franken (D-MN), who now stands accused of sexual harassment. “Do you think you should do the same with the donations you’ve received from the Clintons over the years or is that a different situation?” she asked.

Gillibrand went into a multi-sentence monologue that did not address the question. “I admire Hillary Clinton. She’s one of my greatest role models. She is somebody I campaigned very hard [for], who I wish was president today. I think she’s inspired women and girls all across the world, and I will continue to work with her in every capacity I can,” she said.

“So, it sounds like ‘no,’ you won’t be giving back that money from the Clintons?” Hunt responded.

The New York senator then rehashed her previous response, praising Hillary Clinton for fighting for women. She did not mention Bill Clinton.

After the interview, Hunt explained that Bill Clinton headlined fundraisers for Gillibrand in the past and the Clintons’ PAC donated $11,500 to her campaign coffers.
