Rudy Giuliani, one of President Trump’s most vocal lawyers, told CNN’s Jake Tapper on Sunday that the president will not pardon anyone involved in the Russia investigation.

Tapper suggested that Giuliani’s mere mentioning of pardons on television was a message that the president would interfere in the investigation.

“It’s certainly not intended that way,” he said. “What I mean is you’re not going to get a pardon just because you’re involved in this investigation.”

The lawyer said that those involved would have a “higher burden” to demonstrate prosecutorial misconduct before they got a pardon.

However, Giuliani added that Trump’s former associates would be “not excluded” from pardons, throwing the possibility out there.
