Senate Leadership Fund (SLF), a super PAC allied with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), has picked its next three states to invest in for the fall midterms: Indiana, Tennessee, and West Virginia.

Last week, NTK Network reported on SLF’s first wave of fall ad reservations in Missouri, Nevada, and North Dakota.

This week, according to The Hill, SLF has reserved millions of dollars in TV time for three more battleground states. Like last week’s wave, this week’s slate of reservations are in two states in which the GOP is playing offense – seeking to knock off a Democratic incumbent – and in one state the GOP is playing defense.

The Senate Leadership Fund said Monday it had reserved $7.1 million in Indiana, where Sen. Joe Donnelly (D) faces former state legislator Mike Braun (R); $4.2 million in Tennessee, where former Gov. Phil Bredesen (D) will face Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R); and $5 million in West Virginia, where Sen. Joe Manchin (D) faces Attorney General Patrick Morrisey (R).

Donnelly and Manchin are near the top of the list of vulnerable Senate Democrats in 2018. Tennessee is a bit of a surprise for this cycle; the seat of retiring Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN) is competitive in part because Democrat Phil Bredesen was a popular, two-term governor of Tennessee earlier this century.

The early reservations by SLF offer clues of where McConnell and his allies are prioritizing the fight for the Senate majority in this competitive cycle.
