Following the passage of the GOP tax reform package, the American people are rewarding Republicans for economic growth with rising poll numbers.

In late December, Democrats held a 13-point edge on the generic Congressional ballot heading into the 2018 midterms, according to the Real Clear Politics poll average. But in barely more than a month, that average has dropped to a six-point lead.

Democrats should start to worry that the expected ‘wave election’ may not materialize.

Republicans are fighting hard to maintain their majority, with history against them. The average seat loss in the House of Representatives for the president’s party is 25, and the Republicans would need to lose no more than 23 seats to keep their majority.

But recent polls have shown the GOP gaining on Democrats, and if legislative successes continue, Republicans can expect Americans’ support to follow.
