While the government shuts down over Democrats’ refusal to accept any deal that doesn’t give them all of their immigration demands, lawmakers will still get paid as other federal employees are furloughed.

But at least one congresswoman stood up against the policy, refusing to take her salary. Rep. Barbara Comstock (R-VA) sent a letter to Congress’s Chief Administrative Office Phil Kiko, informing the man who distributes congressional paychecks that hers should be held:

Comstock slammed Senate Democrats for the #SchumerShutdown in a tweet sharing the letter.

“Since I do not agree with [the policy of congressional pay during federal shutdowns], please withhold my pay until an appropriations agreement has taken effect,” she wrote.

Senate Democrats shut the government down Friday night, refusing to back any spending bills unless all of their immigration demands were met. Comstock voted to keep the government open from her position in the House.
