"I think it's now time to start moving American dependents out of the South Korea," Lindsey Graham said on Sunday.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) said that the United States is getting closer to a preemptive war with North Korea and that President Trump has the authority to preemptively strike North Korea.

CBS News’ John Dickerson asked Graham where the United States stands with North Korea at the moment during an interview on “Face the Nation.”

“We’re getting close to military conflict because North Korea’s marching towards marrying up the technology of ICBM with a nuclear weapon on top that cannot only get to America but deliver the weapon. We’re running out of time,” Graham said.

Graham then informed Dickerson that he would be urging the Pentagon not to send any more dependents to South Korea because of how volatile the situation with North Korea is at the moment.

“It’s crazy to send spouses and children to South Korea given the provocation of North Korea. So I want them to stop sending dependents, and I think it’s now time to start moving American dependents out of South Korea.”

Dickerson followed up by asking Graham how close he thought the United States was to military confrontation with North Korea.

“I think we’re really running out of time,” he said. “The Chinese are trying but ineffectively. If there is an underground nuclear test, then you need to get ready for a very serious response by the United States.”

Dickerson then asked if Congress should be discussing the possibility of preemptive war with North Korea.

“Yeah, I think so. I think the president has inherent authority, as commander in chief, has the ability to strike North Korea to protect the American homeland. But this discussion needs to happen among ourselves,” Graham told Dickerson.
