Haley: Sanctions are Strangling North Korea’s Nuclear Program

The rogue nation is suffering under the pressure of international sanctions, according to the U.N. ambassador.

The American ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley, told CNN’s Jake Tapper on Sunday that Trump-organized international sanctions were strangling the North Korean nuclear and missile programs.

“[The sanctions] cut off 90 percent of the trade, 30 percent of the oil. Every ounce of revenue that North Korea receives, they put toward their nuclear program,” she said. “So the fact that the sanctions have completely squeezed them, that’s less money that they can put towards that nuclear program now.”

The sanctions are “helping us tremendously” in putting pressure on the Kim regime, according to Haley.

The U.N. ambassador expressed concerns, however, over the strength of North Korean missiles. The rogue regime has made rapid progress in developing ICBM capabilities in recent months.
