Health Insurance Tax Comes Under Fire from Seniors Group

A new ad campaign from a group representing seniors is blasting the Obamacare Health Insurance Tax, which took effect Jan. 1 and is expected to increase premium costs.

As part of their seven-figure ad campaign, the 60 Plus Association released the ad this week to target the unpopular Health Insurance Tax (HIT), a $21 billion tax increase on families, small businesses, and seniors.

“The 2018 Health Insurance Tax is driving up health care costs for seniors and it’s unacceptable,” said 60 Plus Association Chairman and Founder Jim Martin. “Congress needs to act now, roll back this tax, and get those rebate checks into the hands of seniors.”

A recent poll from the Winston Group reported that only one in five voters believed Congress should allow this tax to go forward. Sen. Cory Gardner (R-CO), is among multiple GOP senators who have proposed delaying this tax for one year.

“It’s time to stop punishing seniors,” said Martin. “Congress needs to immediately halt this Obamacare remnant and provide Medicare Advantage enrollees with some much needed tax relief.”

The transcript of the ad is below:

“With the volume of news we hear today, sometimes important messages don’t get through.”

“If you’re a senior on Medicare Advantage, you’re going to pay even more for healthcare than you thought – because of the new 2018 health insurance tax on your Medicare.”

“The good news is – you can get your money back.”

“If Congress acts now, seniors with Medicare Advantage can get a $500 per couple rebate.”

“But first, Congress must roll back the 2018 health insurance tax.”

“Call Congress. Make sure they get the message that you want your Medicare health insurance tax rebate – now.”
