Heitkamp Reveals WWII Vet’s Personal Info Without His Consent

Sen. Heidi Heitkamp’s (D-ND) reelection campaign can’t seem to stop releasing the personal information of people without their consent. This time, it’s a World War II veteran who made claims against Heitkamp’s campaign.

According to the Daily Caller, Heitkamp posted a story on her Facebook page on Tuesday about meeting Lynn Aas, a World War II veteran, but the post was deleted on Wednesday because she had not asked “for permission” from Aas. Aas reportedly does not want this Facebook post “to be viewed as an endorsement of her campaign.”

The Daily Caller reported:

“In a Facebook post Tuesday night, Heitkamp shared her experience meeting Lynn Aas, a World War II veteran. The senator was in attendance for when Aas was presented with “the French Legion of Honor award for his service in France.” The post goes on to describe his service during WWII and him continuing his education in North Dakota.”

“Lynn is not happy that Heidi did this. We have posted a comment requesting that it be taken down,” David Aas, Lynn’s son, told Rob Port on Wednesday. “Lynn wants to make it clear that no one from the Heitkamp campaign contacted him to ask for permission for this, and he does not want this to be viewed as an endorsement of her campaign.”

This latest gaffe comes just over a week after Heitkamp’s campaign revealed the names of dozens of women who had survived sexual assault without their permission.

Heitkamp now finds herself trailing her Republican opponent, Rep. Kevin Cramer (R-ND), by 16 points in the most recent poll of the race.
