Heitkamp to Hillary Clinton: You Can’t Get Out of Politics Soon Enough

Sen. Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND) added her name to the growing list of Democrats who have expressed displeasure with Hillary Clinton after the former presidential nominee’s disparaging comments regarding Trump supporters during a recent trip to India.

During a discussion at the India Today Conclave, Clinton suggested that women who voted for Trump did so out of some sort of “pressure to vote the way that your husband, your boss, your son, whoever, believes you should.” Clinton added that Trump supporters didn’t like African Americans “getting rights,” or women “getting jobs.”

While appearing on a radio show earlier this week, Heitkamp was asked when she thought Clinton would, “ride off into the sunset.”

“I don’t know, not soon enough, I guess,” Heitkamp responded.

KFGO host Joel Heitkamp, who is Heitkamp’s brother, asked her to clarify her remarks.

“Not soon enough,” Heitkamp repeated.

Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill (D-MO) also expressed displeasure with Clinton’s comments, telling the Washington Post that she found them to be “fighting words.”

Numerous Democratic operatives have also expressed their displeasure with Clinton since her controversial remarks.
