Here’s the List of 2020 Dems Who Won’t Make the 3rd DNC Debate

The Democratic National Committee is clamping down on the two dozen Democrats running for the party’s presidential nomination with a slight adjustment of the requirements candidates must meet to appear on the debate stage.

For the first two debates, candidates needed to achieve at least one-percent support in DNC-approved state and national polls and/or 65,000 unique donors. But for debates three and four, the DNC is upping the ante, requiring both of the following:

Instead of needing 65,000 unique donors to qualify, candidates will need 130,000.

Instead of needing to achieve 1 percent in each of three polls, candidates need to hit 2 percent in each of four polls released between June 28 and August 28.

According to FiveThirtyEight, this change will leave quite a few Democrats off the debate stage in September. Here’s how they break down the candidates, ranging from “tossup” to “lots of work to do.” The “qualifying polls” below are dated from Jan. 1 and will not actually impact the candidate’s eligibility for the third and fourth DNC debates.
