Hickenlooper Decides … on a Month to Make His 2020 Presidential Decision

Gov. John Hickenlooper (D-CO) gave The New York Times his narrowest deadline yet for a 2020 presidential decision, in a profile published Friday morning.

Emphasis ours:

Might he, eyeing 2020, run for the Democratic Party nomination for president on this can-do, bridge-building platform? “We are certainly looking at it,” Hickenlooper said. “We spent the summer talking to people that are really smart. I’m preparing, but don’t think I’d make a decision probably until February.”

Hickenlooper may be seeking to make headlines as he inches toward a 2020 run, but it may not be enough to distract would-be voters from the ethics investigation he currently faces.

Earlier this week, the Colorado Ethics Commission ruled a complaint about Hickenlooper’s travel around the globe – and his alleged non-disclosure of travel as potential gifts – is “non-frivolous,” meaning they’ll investigate it further over the next few weeks and months.
