Himes: Unless a “Very Clear” Crime, It’s Inappropriate to Talk About Impeachment

"Unless there is a very clear crime, impeachment is not something that is appropriate for us to talk about."

Rep. Jim Himes (D-CT) said that it is inappropriate for Democrats to talk about impeaching President Trump before there is “very clear” evidence that Trump committed a crime.

CNN’s Wolf Blitzer asked Himes, during an inteview on Tuesday, if he thinks the American people would want to impeach Trump if Special Counsel Robert Mueller doesn’t find anything.

“The Constitution is pretty clear that a president is impeached for high crimes and misdemeanors. We are a long way from that point, Wolf,” Himes said. “Unless there is a very clear crime, impeachment is not something that is appropriate for us to talk about.”
