Chair of the House Democratic Caucus Rep. Joe Crowley (D-NY) and Vice Chair of the House Democratic Conference Rep. Linda Sánchez (D-CA) both admitted that there isn’t any evidence yet to impeach President Trump, during a press conference on Wednesday.

A reporter asked what they thought the mood of the Democratic caucus is regarding the issue of impeachment, and what they would say to people who are concerned with the issue.

“I’ve been saying to my constituents back home, who are concerned about the erratic behavior of this president and the chaotic nature of this White House, is that there is in place an investigation that Mr. Mueller is conducting,” Crowley said. “We need to wait for that investigation to be completed and for him to make his presentation to Congress.”

“I think we should — we should wait for — the — until we see the facts, you cannot — certainly I don’t want to prejudice a case either for or against impeachment, and so I think that everyone is entitled to that,” Crowley said.

“You cannot pursue a case for impeachment without the underlying factual basis for that impeachment,” Sánchez said. “We are confident that if the independent counsel is allowed to move forward, that we will have facts in hand at some point and can make a determination then.”

“Let the facts lead where they may and let the evidence be presented,” Crowley said. “And then I think the entire Congress, Democrats, Republicans, will have to deal with those issues if and when they’re presented to the American people through the Congress.”
