HYPOCRISY ALERT: Gillibrand Says Bill Clinton Should Have Resigned After Lewinsky Scandal

Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) is making headlines after telling the New York Times that former President Bill Clinton should have resigned after his inappropriate relationship with White House intern Monica Lewinsky.

However, Gillibrand had no moral objection to joining the Clinton administration after it was known that Bill Clinton had an inappropriate relationship with Lewinsky and faced several accusations of sexual assault.

The New York Times reported on Gillibrand’s comments regarding Clinton on Thursday:

Asked directly if she believed Mr. Clinton should have stepped down at the time, Ms. Gillibrand took a long pause and said, “Yes, I think that is the appropriate response.”

But she also appeared to signal that what is currently considered a fireable offense may have been more often overlooked during the Clinton era.

“Things have changed today, and I think under those circumstances there should be a very different reaction,” Ms. Gillibrand said. “And I think in light of this conversation, we should have a very different conversation about President Trump, and a very different conversation about allegations against him.”

However, Gillibrand seemed to have no problem with Clinton’s actions in the ’90s, electing to take a job as special Counsel to United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) under then-Secretary Andrew Cuomo during the last year of the Clinton administration.

Gillibrand took the job in the Clinton administration after accusations that Bill Clinton had sexually assaulted Juanita Broaddrick, Paula Jones, and Kathleen Willey were widely known by the American public.

It also came after Clinton admitted that he had an inappropriate relationship with 20-year-old White House intern, Lewinsky.

It appears that Gillibrand wants New Yorkers and Americans to believe she is a defender of women, but when given the chance to object Bill Clinton’s actions, she remained silent and took the job at HUD to advance her own career.
