‘If You Like Your Plan’?: O’Care Options Continue to Dwindle

Reuters reported on Thursday that, for many Americans, Obamacare options are continuing to dwindle.

While much of their report relies on anecdotes from customers suffering from limited options and high costs – and their anecdotes are worth a read – Reuters also relies on some startling data from Avalere.

Emphasis ours:

There is no national estimate of how many people with complex medical cases may struggle to find a plan that covers their particular doctors. About 2.2 million people on the individual market have some form of a pre-existing chronic condition, according to Avalere Health, a research and consulting firm.

Seventy-three percent of the Obamacare 2018 individual market is comprised of restrictive plans, or those that cover fewer providers, according to Avalere, up from 68 percent in 2017 and 54 percent in 2015.

That means nearly three in every four plans on the Obamacare market are “restrictive,” more hard data that President Obama’s promise that “if you like your health care plan, you can keep it” was untrue from the start.

Lie of the year? Maybe lie of the decade.
