High-ranking members of the intelligence community warned at a Senate Intelligence Hearing on Tuesday that North Korea is persisting in its aggressive posture toward the world, even though much media focus of the past week praised the communist dictatorship for its attendance at the Winter Olympics.

Kim Yo Jong, the sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and member of the North Korean high command, attended the games in neighboring South Korea this weekend, to much praise from the western media.

“The American people should all remember that Kim Yo Jong is the head of the Propaganda and Agitation Department,” CIA Director Mike Pompeo said. “There’s no indication that there’s any strategic change in the outlook from Kim Jong Un in his desire to retain his nuclear capacity to threaten the United States of America.”

NSA Director Admiral Mike Rogers assured the committee that the bond between South Korea and the United States is unbreakable.

The head of the Defense Intelligence Agency, Lt. Gen. Robert Ashley, warned that Kim had increased military readiness, not decreased it. “Under the [Kim Jong Un] regime, you’ve seen a much more deliberate effort in terms of readiness, very different from his father,” he said.

Ashley pointed out that 70 percent of Kim’s “million man army” was located close to the South Korean border. “We should not be misled by the events that are taking place around the Olympics,” the DIA chief warned.
