Investigators Raid Apple Offices in South Korea

Just before the release of the newest iPhone, South Korean police raided Apple offices in their country last month to investigate the company’s business practices, according to a report from the U.K.’s Metro.

Apple has long feuded with the Korean Fair Trade Commission over its possibly “‘unfair’ contracts:”

Apple and the Korean Fair Trade Commission have a long history together.

Last year, South Korea opened an investigation in a bid to discover whether Apple struck ‘unfair’ contracts with local phone networks.

It’s understood the latest raid is part of this ongoing probe, which was launched just months after the American firm took action to address officials’ concern about other ‘unfair’ contracts with South Korean firms commissioned to repair iPhones and other gadgets.

The Korean Fair Trade Commission has acted aggressively against bad actors in the tech industry in the past, jailing Samsung’s chairman earlier this year. Their focus on Apple should worry the company.

Apple’s iPhone X was set to go on sale in South Korea on Friday.
