Is Dem Senate Hopeful Lying About Her Business Career?

A Monday report from the Reno Gazette Journal raises questions about Rep. Jacky Rosen’s (D-NV) claimed business history, writing that records of her alleged consulting firm seem to not exist.

According to the report from RGJ’s James DeHaven, Rosen, the Democratic candidate for the Nevada Senate seat, claims that she ran a consulting business from 1993 to 2002, but state, local, and business records are missing:

State officials said that prior to 2003, the former computer programmer would not have been required to seek a state license for her Henderson-based consultancy, provided she didn’t hire any employees.

But officials in Rosen’s adopted home of Henderson said she would’ve needed a local license to operate a for-profit business within city limits. David Cherry, a city spokesman, added that a city policy requires business records to be destroyed one year after a business closes or one year from when a license is not renewed.

Rosen told the RGJ that she did not keep her own records, and neither business she allegedly serviced retained any record of contract with her consulting firm.

The 2018 Nevada Senate race is one of the most-highly watched in the country, with Democrats hoping to oust incumbent Sen. Dean Heller (R-NV) in November.
