ISIS-Inspired Terrorist Bungles NYC Attack

An ISIS-inspired terrorist attempted to strike terror in the heart of New York City early Monday morning, detonating a pipe bomb in the crowded NYC Port Authority. But the explosion failed to seriously wound any bystanders, only causing injuries to the terrorist himself.

Local NYC CBS reports identified the would-be mass murderer as Akayed Ullah, a Bangladeshi national who has been living in Brooklyn since 2011.

Ullah detonated the crude explosive device in a crowded section of the transportation hub, but only seriously wounded himself with the blast.

Former NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton identified ISIS as the inspiration for Ullah’s actions, according to The New York Post:

Former NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton told MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” that the man was inspired by ISIS and possibly born in Bangladesh.

Bratton, who said the man had been living in the US for seven years, “was supposedly setting the device off in the name of ISIS.”

“So, definitely a terrorist attack, definitely intended,” Bratton said.

And Fox News reported that ISIS warned “two weeks ago” of coming attacks in New York City during the upcoming Christmas season. “We meet at Christmas in New York… soon,” a message in an ISIS video read.
