JP Morgan Chase CEO and chairman Jamie Dimon refused to say he “absolutely” would not run for president in 2010 during an interview on CNBC Wednesday.

CNBC’s Joe Kernen told Dimon about a “smart investor” that Kernen knew who said if Dimon were to run for president in 2020, he would vote for him.

“I don’t plan to,” Dimon told Kernen.

“What do you mean, you don’t plan to. Absolutely not?” an astonished Kernen asked.

Dimon can be heard saying, “No,” to Kernen’s question about ruling out a run for president in 2020.

“Huh,” Kernen responded.

Dimon reiterated that he doesn’t plan to run for president, but his refusal to give Kernen an absolute denial suggests that Dimon is leaving the door open to a possible run.

“I would say over the last six months, many of your friends off the record and whatnot have been whispering much more than ever before that they say, ‘What’s going on with Jamie? Is he planning on running?'” CNBC’s Andrew Ross Sorkin told Dimon.

“Jamie’s doing quite fine, thank you. I appreciate your concern,” Dimon responded, laughing.

There has been much speculation that Dimon might be considering a run for president. given his increased presence in Washington, D.C. over the past year, and recent comments that President Trump would be a one-term president.
